River Plate Confirms Real Madrid’s Interest in Franco Mastantuono

Introducing Real Madrid’s New Signing, Franco Mastantuono
This summer, Real Madrid fans will have the exciting opportunity to see their new signing, Franco Mastantuono, in action at the FIFA Club World Cup. The club recently finalized a deal to acquire the talented Argentinian wonderkid from River Plate after extensive transfer negotiations.
At just 17 years old, Mastantuono will be Real Madrid’s third signing of the summer window, joining Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The club’s determination to secure his services was evident, with a €63m clause activated in his contract to facilitate the transfer.
While Mastantuono cannot officially join Real Madrid until he turns 18 on August 14, he is expected to make his way to Madrid immediately after the Club World Cup, eager to start his new chapter with the Spanish giants.
River Plate President Confirms Mastantuono’s Departure
Following the completion of the transfer, River Plate president Jorge Brito provided insight into how the deal transpired. He revealed that Real Madrid’s firm stance forced the Argentinian club to part ways with Mastantuono earlier than anticipated.
According to Brito, Real Madrid made it clear that it was a now-or-never situation, leaving River Plate with no choice but to let go of the promising young talent. The execution of the release clause by Mastantuono himself solidified the transfer, with the financial details of the deal now public knowledge.

Real Madrid’s structured payment plan aligns with La Liga’s financial regulations, with €20m paid upfront, followed by €12.5m in June 2026 and another €12.5m in June 2027. The remaining balance of €65m includes tax implications for signings from outside the European Union.
Mastantuono’s Role in the Club World Cup
As the Club World Cup kicks off, River Plate finds themselves in Group E alongside Urawa Red Diamonds, Monterrey, and UEFA Champions League finalists Inter Milan. Mastantuono and his new Real Madrid teammates are set to begin their campaign against Urawa in Seattle on June 17, with high expectations for the young talent’s performance on the global stage.
