During his stay in Stockholm, Swedish police received a complaint of rape at the hotel where Mbappe was staying, with Bayer Leverkusen defender Nordi Mukiele also present. Although Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet suggested that Mbappe was implicated in the complaint, the police have not officially confirmed this. Mbappe’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, addressed the situation, emphasizing that a complaint does not equate to guilt and highlighting Mbappe’s innocence.

Canu-Bernard stated, “He is never alone and is stunned by everything. This media commotion, he does not understand at all what he can be accused of, or even anything close. He is never exposed to being in a situation in which there is a risk for him. This completely excludes the possibility that there may have been reprehensible actions on his part. This is an absolute certainty.”

Despite the swirling rumors, Mbappe remained unfazed, with Canu-Bernard noting his calm demeanor and assurance that he had nothing to hide. The lawyer also mentioned plans to file a complaint for slander in response to the implications made against Mbappe.

Support from Manager Didier Deschamps

While Mbappe faced criticism in his home country for missing France duty due to injury, manager Didier Deschamps came to his defense, asserting that Mbappe has the freedom to make his own choices during his time off. Additionally, Mbappe’s absence was noticeable as he was conspicuously removed from a Real Madrid promotional image amidst the controversy.
