Barcelona Drops Star Player from Preseason Amid Exit Speculations
Barcelona’s Transfer Plans Revamped
Barcelona is making crucial decisions regarding the departure of midfielder Pablo Torre from the club this month. The club is reevaluating their summer transfer strategy after Nico Williams decided to stay at Athletic Club, forcing Hansi Flick to reconsider his options for bolstering the team.
With new faces now a priority, Flick is looking to strengthen the attack in the upcoming weeks. Premier League players Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford are on Flick’s radar, with Diaz currently being the preferred choice. However, Liverpool’s high asking price of around £70m means that Barcelona will need to offload players before making any new signings for the 2025/26 season.
Pablo Torre’s Move to Mallorca
Pablo Torre has expressed his disappointment at his limited playing time under Flick’s management. The midfielder has had discussions with the boss about his lack of opportunities and has accepted that his future lies away from Barcelona.
Torre has agreed to terms with Mallorca on a four-year contract, following Barcelona’s approval of the transfer. According to reports from Sport, Barcelona will sell 50% of Torre’s rights for €5m, with Mallorca having a buyout clause for the remaining 50% at €25m.
Although Barcelona will incur a slight loss compared to the €6m they paid to acquire him from Racing Santander in 2022, they have included clauses in the deal to protect their interests. These clauses include a sell-on clause and a buy-back option, ensuring that Barcelona can benefit if Torre excels at Mallorca.
While final details are still pending confirmation from both sides, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona has allowed Torre to miss preseason training to finalize the agreement.
