The Real Story Behind Dylan Kerr’s Departure from Marumo Gallants and Beyond
Former Marumo Gallants Coach Dylan Kerr Opens Up About Departure
In a recent interview with Soccer Betting News, former Marumo Gallants coach Dylan Kerr shared the shocking details behind his departure from the Betway Premiership outfit. Kerr revealed the tumultuous circumstances surrounding his dismissal and accused chairman Abram Sello and members of the backroom staff of sabotage.
Internal Politics and Lack of Support
Despite a facade of unity leading up to the new season, Kerr’s time at Gallants was brief. He alleges that the club’s internal politics and the lack of support from his own team were key factors in his departure. Kerr expressed his disappointment, stating, “I didn’t feel like I got the support from anybody in the office.”
“One of the things is that a head coach is responsible for the football club on and off the field. I remember speaking to somebody at Stellenbosch and one of the technical team members said to me ‘All the technical team members are behind Steve Barker because if he fails, they are out of a job’,” Kerr added.
He emphasized the importance of a supportive team, citing the example of Stellenbosch’s technical staff backing their head coach. Kerr highlighted the need for a cohesive team that promotes the coach’s vision and has their back, a dynamic he felt was lacking during his time at Marumo Gallants.
“Unfortunately, in my time at Marumo, this time I did not get that at all. My professional ethics and the way I have been taught as a player and a coach – the dynamics were not right,” Kerr stated.
Looking Ahead
As Kerr reflects on his time at Marumo Gallants, he remains focused on his coaching journey. Despite the challenges he faced, Kerr’s dedication to the game and his principles as a coach remain unwavering. Moving forward, Kerr is eager to find a new opportunity where he can thrive with the support and backing he believes every coach deserves.
