Spanish FA in Contract Talks with Luis de la Fuente

Spanish Football Federation open contract talks with Luis de la Fuente

Spain Head Coach Luis de la Fuente’s Contract Situation

Speculation has been rife over the past six months regarding Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente and his contract negotiations. Currently, his contract extends until the 2026 World Cup, but he has been pushing for a substantial salary increase following Spain’s success in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League and Euro 2024.

Luis de la Fuente’s Salary Demands

Currently earning €1m annually, de la Fuente is seeking a considerable raise to €3m. The Spanish Football Federation is willing to meet him halfway, reportedly offering a new deal that would see him earn €2m per year, according to Diario AS.

Negotiations and Future Plans

The Federation’s new president, Rafael Louzan, recently met with de la Fuente’s representatives, signaling both parties’ willingness to finalize negotiations. With de la Fuente’s success since taking over as Spain’s head coach, it is in the Federation’s best interest to secure his continued leadership.

It remains to be seen how the contract talks will progress, but both sides seem motivated to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that ensures de la Fuente’s tenure with La Roja continues on a positive trajectory.
