Real Madrid and Liverpool agree on Trent Alexander-Arnold
Real Madrid’s Preparation for Club World Cup and New Season
Real Madrid is already in planning mode for the upcoming Club World Cup and the new season following their defeat to Barcelona that dashed their hopes of securing the La Liga title. With Xabi Alonso poised to take over from Carlo Ancelotti on the sidelines, Los Blancos have also secured their first signing for the summer.
Signing Trent Alexander-Arnold for the Club World Cup
Real Madrid is gearing up for the Club World Cup by taking advantage of the new transfer window opening in early June. The club’s first signing for the tournament will be Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. According to reports from Football Insider via Caught Offside, Real Madrid is expected to finalize an agreement with Liverpool for Alexander-Arnold to join the club in June. Liverpool is reportedly seeking €1-2 million for his participation in the tournament.
Further Reinforcements in the Pipeline
Real Madrid is not stopping at Alexander-Arnold and is looking to bolster their squad with additional reinforcements before heading to the USA for the Club World Cup. Reports suggest that the club is targeting reinforcements for the backline, with a left-back and a central defender expected to join the squad as well.
Defensive Concerns Driving Transfer Strategy
Defensive injuries have been a concern for Real Madrid, with Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal working towards regaining fitness for the Club World Cup. As of now, Xabi Alonso could potentially have only three fit defenders available for the tournament. While there is hope for the return of Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez, Fran Garcia and Raul Asencio are currently the only fully fit defenders in the squad.
