Liverpool welcomes talks with Barcelona for Luis Diaz

Barcelona’s Pursuit of Luis Diaz
Barcelona is actively pursuing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, despite facing hurdles in reaching a deal. The Blaugrana have identified Diaz as their top priority, with Director of Football Deco openly expressing his admiration for the Colombian winger. Although Liverpool initially rejected Barcelona’s approach for the 28-year-old, recent developments suggest a shift in their stance.
Liverpool Open to Negotiating for Diaz
Recent reports from Catalan paper Sport indicate that Liverpool is now willing to entertain discussions regarding Diaz’s potential transfer. The winger is reportedly considering a move to Barcelona next summer as his preferred choice, ruling out other options like Saudi Arabia. With two years remaining on his contract and no progress on a renewal, Diaz is eager to make the switch to Barcelona.

Liverpool has allegedly agreed to let Diaz leave if an offer exceeding €60m is tabled, despite their initial asking price of €85m. The club’s willingness to engage in negotiations stems from the financial considerations of other transfer dealings, such as a potential move for Florian Wirtz and either Alexander Isak or Bradley Barcola. The funds raised from Diaz’s sale could facilitate these acquisitions.
Challenges in Completing the Diaz Deal
Barcelona, on the other hand, must overcome obstacles of their own to secure Diaz’s signature. This includes adhering to their salary cap and offloading players like Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Inaki Pena, and Ansu Fati. Another major sale may be necessary for Barcelona to meet the demands of the Diaz deal.
