Liverpool set price for Ibrahima Konate amid Real Madrid interest

Liverpool name Ibrahima Konate price if Real Madrid want summer move

Real Madrid’s One-Off Chance to Sign Ibrahima Konate

Real Madrid could potentially have a golden opportunity to secure the services of Liverpool’s defensive star, Ibrahima Konate, this summer.

Under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid has been revamping their defense with three new additions, one of them being Konate’s former teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Speculation about Real Madrid’s interest in Konate dates back to July, with rumors swirling that he may not extend his contract at Anfield.

Since the beginning of 2025, Konate has been in negotiations with Liverpool as his current contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. Liverpool is eager for a decision from him before the end of August to avoid a scenario where he leaves for free in 2026, which aligns with Real Madrid’s plan.

Real Madrid is still irked by having to pay a transfer fee to secure Alexander-Arnold’s services, as they initially believed they could sign him for free.

Aside from Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG are rumored to also be interested in Konate. If Liverpool’s final contract offer is declined, they are willing to sell him to the highest bidder.

Konate is reportedly seeking around £200,000 per week for a contract renewal, a significant increase of over 100%. Liverpool deemed this demand unacceptable and has already brought in Giovanni Leoni as a potential replacement.

Liverpool has informed interested parties that they are open to offers in the range of £35 million in the final days of the transfer window. This asking price exceeds Real Madrid’s limit of £21 million, which may prompt the La Liga giants to delay their pursuit until next summer in hopes that PSG does not intervene.
