Atletico Madrid set asking price for second-top scorer

Atletico Madrid’s Summer Transfer Activity

Atletico Madrid has been active in the transfer market this summer, already securing two new players and expecting a third major signing. While new faces have come in, there are also rumors circulating about potential exits from the club.

Departures and Potential Sales

Angel Correa is set to depart for Mexico, with Rodrigo de Paul rumored to be the next player leaving for the Americas. Additionally, free agents Cesar Azpilicueta, Reinildo Mandava, and Axel Witsel have left the club, along with Rodrigo Riquelme moving to Real Betis. The club has brought in Juan Musso, Matteo Ruggeri, and Alex Baena for a combined fee of €62m, resulting in a net spend of €54m.

The Future of Alexander Sorloth

Despite an impressive debut season at Atletico Madrid, Alexander Sorloth’s future at the club is uncertain. While he scored 24 goals and emerged as the team’s second-highest scorer, doubts remain about his ability to perform consistently at the highest level. Although Sorloth is not currently for sale, the club may consider offers above the €35m they paid for him.

Similar Situation for Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher, another summer arrival alongside Sorloth, has also faced challenges in securing a regular starting position. Despite showing promise, Gallagher has struggled to cement his place in the team. With Atletico Madrid eyeing a move for Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur, a significant sale may be necessary to fund the transfer.
