Atletico Madrid Looking to Sell Saul Niguez After Loan Spell

Atletico Madrid is keen on selling their midfield star Saul Niguez as soon as he returns to the club this summer. Saul was sent on a season-long loan to La Liga rivals Sevilla for the 2024/25 campaign after struggling to secure a place in Diego Simeone’s plans following a previous loan stint at Chelsea.

Despite his desire to make a comeback at the Estadio Metropolitano, Saul’s time in Sevilla was hindered by injuries and suspensions, leading to a lack of playing time and impacting his career progression.

Sevilla’s Decision Against Permanently Acquiring Saul

Sevilla had the option to make Saul’s move permanent but decided against it back in April. Atletico Madrid has made it clear to the player and his representatives that they are looking for a quick sale as they do not see a future for Saul in Madrid.

Diego Simeone had hoped to convince Sevilla to keep Saul, effectively ending his tenure with Atletico Madrid as his contract with the club expires in June 2026.

A move to the Middle East could provide him with a fresh start, considering his undeniable talent. However, a return to La Liga seems unlikely, with previous rumors of him joining another Spanish team failing to materialize due to concerns over his fitness.
