Atletico Madrid Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul Set to Join MLS Side Inter Miami

Exciting news is on the horizon for Atletico Madrid fans as midfielder Rodrigo De Paul is gearing up to make a move to MLS side Inter Miami. Inter Miami, known for their roster of former Barcelona stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, have been in negotiations with De Paul for a few weeks now. An agreement on personal terms has been reached with the Argentina international, and club-to-club talks have progressed smoothly, with the deal now nearing completion.

De Paul’s Move to Inter Miami on a Loan-to-Buy Structure

Sources from Argentina have confirmed that a deal has been struck between Atletico Madrid and Inter Miami for De Paul’s transfer. The agreement includes a loan-to-buy structure, where De Paul will initially join Inter Miami on loan. The MLS side will have the option to make the deal permanent during the winter transfer window for €15m. With a four-year deal already in place, it is likely that Inter Miami will exercise this option.

Atletico Madrid’s Plan to Extend De Paul’s Contract

While there is a possibility that Inter Miami may choose not to activate the buy clause, Atletico Madrid is prepared for any scenario. If the clause is not triggered, De Paul could potentially enter into pre-contract negotiations with another club for a free transfer next summer. However, Atleti is set to extend De Paul’s contract until 2027 before his departure is finalized, ensuring that they maintain control over the situation.

By opting for an initial loan deal for De Paul, Atletico Madrid demonstrates that their immediate financial needs are not pressing. This decision raises questions about how it may impact their ability to pursue additional signings during the current summer transfer window.
