Aston Villa sign 21-year-old Spanish right-back

Aston Villa close deal for 21-year-old Spanish right-back

Aston Villa Set to Sign Levante’s Andres Garcia

After weeks of speculation, Aston Villa has finally made a move for Levante’s talented right-back, Andres Garcia. The 21-year-old has been a standout performer for Levante this season, featuring in all 22 of their Segunda games and contributing 3 goals and 3 assists to his name.

According to reports, Aston Villa has reached an agreement with Levante for a €7m deal for Garcia, with the potential for an additional €2m in variables. Additionally, Levante will retain a 15% sell-on clause, highlighting the club’s confidence in the young player’s future potential.

Competition from Sporting CP and Real Betis

Despite interest from other clubs such as Sporting CP and Real Betis, Aston Villa’s offer stood out as the most attractive option for Garcia. The deal will see him make the move to Birmingham immediately, foregoing any potential loan agreements that Levante had hoped for.

It is reported that Garcia will also receive a significant wage increase as part of the move, highlighting Aston Villa’s commitment to securing top talent for their squad.

Missed Opportunities with Other Right-Back Targets

Prior to pursuing Garcia, Aston Villa had been linked to other right-back options such as Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo and Andrei Ratiu from Rayo Vallecano. However, with release clauses of €20m and €25m respectively, the club opted for Garcia as a more cost-effective solution.

Barcelona, who had a 50% sell-on clause in Mingueza’s contract, will miss out on a potential €10m windfall due to Aston Villa’s choice to pursue Garcia instead.

Overall, the signing of Andres Garcia represents a significant move for Aston Villa as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season and beyond.
