Real Madrid Set to Break Club Record vs. PSG

Real Madrid will break club record with victory over Paris Saint-Germain

Real Madrid’s Chance at Redemption in the Club World Cup

Real Madrid’s 2024-25 season may not have gone as planned, but there is still hope for redemption if they can emerge victorious in the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso’s squad is set to face off against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final, with a potential final clash against Chelsea looming on the horizon.

A win against PSG would not only keep Real Madrid’s hopes alive in the revamped Club World Cup but also mark a significant milestone for the club. This victory would equal the club record for most victories in a single season, currently set at 46 wins achieved during the 2011-12 and 2013-14 seasons under the guidance of Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti, respectively.

Despite winning 45 out of 67 matches played this season, Real Madrid has yet to secure any major trophies. However, the team did claim victories in the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup. Comparatively, Mourinho’s side in 2011-12 won 46 out of 58 matches (79% win rate) on their way to clinching La Liga with an impressive 100 points. Ancelotti’s squad in 2013-14 also won 46 out of 60 matches (77%) while securing the Champions League and Copa del Rey titles.

Real Madrid’s Opportunity to Turn the Season Around in the US

The 2024-25 season has been a disappointment for Real Madrid, especially with Barcelona’s success in securing a domestic treble. However, under Alonso’s leadership, there are signs of hope for the future. A convincing victory against PSG in the semi-final would not only boost morale but also serve as a statement of intent for the team’s future prospects – although they will be missing the suspended Dean Huijsen.
